Achievements

Improved the department performance against all available indicators, including HMIP reports, KPIs, internal audit scores and prisoner and staff feedback.

Revolutionised the HMP complaints system for discrimination by spearheading a group of peers to challenge the norm and create a more effective system.

Progressed the effectiveness of the department through increased focus on overlooked areas of need, such as making reasonable adjustments for prisoners with disabilities and providing forums facilitate the prisoners’ voice.

Conceptualised and wrote two policy documents highlighted as best practice by NOMS and subsequently used as templates for the entire service.

Responsible for all diversity related prison standards and promoted to lead teams across two estates to safeguard prisoners and staff from all forms of discrimination.

Provided evidence-based recommendations for the risk register and as a result of leading on investigation, equality impact assessments, prisoner complaints and staff grievances.

Advised on Cell Sharing Risk Assessments for prisoners with racially aggravated offences.
